This Cast Deal!

I've got 2 more days then it's back to the hand Dr., Hopefully the x-ray will show that a brace will be all thats needed for a week before I'll be healed enough to walk around without protection.
Then I'll get back to my gardening without this irritating disability.  I dream of the day I'll be able to use a shovel, a hoe.  A day when I can pull up crab grass with full strength and complete garden tasks in an optimal time frame.  Instead of taking 3x longer to complete a project than should be necessary.

Til then it's one handed tool work and extra time, blah...at least I've continued to work on it and have completed some tasks and planted some beautiful flowers and half of my veggies.

Unlike my days of going to the gym, yes the gym, I haven't been since before my little break and my muscles have lost their tone, which really sucks because now when I look in the mirror things flap...crap, summer is going to be upon us and I need to get into skirt/dress/short and swimwear shape.  Oh the things women worry over and actions they take to combat circumstances that our or at least my procrastination gets me into.

Well lunch, consisting of BBQ'd hot dogs and mac and cheese is just about done, thank you lovely MIL, BIL, DH and munchkins for letting me have the afternoon off, of cooking at least, lol!

Hello Again...

Alright so it's been a while since I've last blogged.  I have added blog more; onto my list of things to do, hopefully it will have some positive effects on my actual habits!

Soooo...what has been going on with me??

Lets just start up with last weekend shall we? Pete and I dropped the kiddos off at the grandparents on a Friday night, went home had dinner and cuddled on the couch watching movies til we practically fell asleep.  Then we got up super early on Saturday and headed for Picacho Peak.

We took Meeka because lets face it she's a goliath dog with uber energy and what better way to wear her out than a nice long hike up a mountain.  We did really well and Meeka made it all the way to the second to last cable climb (the one before the last one at the horseshoe) before she looked at us and said we were frickin crazy if we thought she was going to jump/climb that sheer rockface, lol!

But seriously with the 11 month old mongo weimaraner we made it as far as 5 minutes away from the top!!  So we being the good puppy parents that we are, turned around just short of our goal and headed back the way we came.

We made it without incident all the way to the large expanse of massive wooden steps, parking lot within sight (bout a 5-10minute walk) when a large troop of boyscouts caught up to us.  PETE  was about 6 feet ahead of me and the troops were breathing down my neck, talking loud about falling and their two buds who ran down the mountain.
Me, feeling pretty proud of myself for making it nearly to the top and back down to where the land begins to flatten out started paying less attention to where I was putting my feet and keeping my balance. So ofcourse hear I am thinking I should tell Pete we need to let the troop pass since I could feel their breath on my neck and VOILA...what happens...my foot slips off the sand covered wooden step, I flail backwards and ofcourse I know you're not supposed to, but what does my body automatically do?  My arm shoots out to try and stop my fall...CRACK..."Crap there goes my wrist"....and finally silence from the boy scouts!  I pick myself up wrap my wrist in the sleeve of my long sleeved shirt and walk back to the truck on my shaking feet!

Some of you might be asking where Pete was...well as I mentioned he was about 6 feet ahead of me with the dog...he did stop and turn around, as well as ask if it was the wrist that always gives me problems...hey brightside---IT IS--- We got back to the truck, where I promptly put ice on it, drove home where I grabbed my wrist brace then proceeded to go get lunch - (Subway--Italian BMT on toasted flat bread---YUMMY) - then went and got the kids.
You may be asking yourself, she's smarter than that why isn't she going to the ER?? Well I'd say your right, I am smarter than that...no one goes to the Casa Grande hospital if they have a choice...at least not the smart people!  No I waited til Monday at which point I made an appt. with my Dr. and only paid $25 for a copay, then got a referral to a hand dr. for Tuesday.  Tuesday heralded the news that I had a clean break which is now why I will be sporting this lime green cast for the next  4-6 weeks.
Hey it will go with some of my spring wear!
I will post another blog about all of the things I need my right hand for and all of the things that I've found it severely difficult to do when you only have one hand available to you, whoohoo!
